Repeal the Mandatory Helmet Law

The bicycle helmet law punishes cyclists for the dangerous behavior of drivers. The safety of the public is better served by getting more people riding than by making committed cyclists wear helmets, reinforcing the misguided perception that bicycling is dangerous.

Dear Karen: if you believe that the helmet saved your life (as opposed to made you hit something with your head), wear one. Don't push the helmet happines down the throats of other people.

  2. I've had bad bike crashes that have had nothing to do with cars. Repeal the law if you want, but don't blame cars for everything.

  3. My helmet saved my life. Every time I see a cyclist without a helmet, I want to stop them and shake some sense into them. I totally disagree with you.

  4. I for one will never wear a helmet. I will take this time to say, stay off my road when there is a side walk. There is alot we might not see eye to eye on, like I J-walk as a good practice instead of standing under powerlines that fry your brain.. And I never drink tap water and especially from no artisian well when there is rocket fule and 50 other contaminates... A shower filter reverses baldness what does that tell you and the only reason you dudes didn't have one growing up, was probably the same ... more

  5. Until Bicyclists stop holding up traffic thinking they're entitled for being environmental... forget it. All they do is get in the way, slow things down, and zip in and out of no where - hence the need for helmets so they can't sue you when they ride in front of you for an insurance scam.

  6. This is one of the stupidest ideas on here. Hey, why not repeal the seat belt law and stop punishing drivers for the dangerous behavior of physics?

After so many driver's skulls have been stapled shut, why don't we have a mandatory helmet law for drivers?

  8. after seeing EMTs staple a cyclist's head closed (they were loosing blood very, very fast) after being involved in a non-automobile crash; I totally disagree with you.
