Increase late-night transportation options
Work with Metro to run certain bus routes later to help people get home from bars and events. The Capital Hill to downtown routes are thin late at night.
Many companies offer cab vouchers after company parties. Could this somehow be implemented on a larger scale, maybe working with colleges?... more

I am one of the MANY performing musicians in this city that work late nights, as that is when money is available to be made. If I perform until 1.35 am (which is before the bars close), I have to dish out $25.00+ to get home safely with my instrument. Even with the health of clubs and bars in Seattle, that is often >30% of my income for the evening. That is far more insulting a charge than pay-day loan check cashing fees. Why work against the arts?

I have lived in Seattle for the tune of 6 yrs. The bus services is okay if you are doing it during M-F after 6am and before 7pm. I work for a company that requires me to be in at 6am on Fri, Sat and Sun. Most of the time I ride my bike in, but as you know we have thousands of gallons of rain dropping in Seattle, every month. So on those days I choose to take the bus. However before 6am there’s is mainly no buses. They say that they increase there buses do to ridership. Granted the buses are not packed wi... more

This has caused me to live closer to were I work because if I were to lived anywhere else in the city I would be late to work two days a week. Consequently I live in a somewhat bad area of town, the Cap hill, and Central Dist.
Most big cities like Boston, New York, and Los Angeles, would have no problem putting trains and buses to work at and before 5am. Why is it in Seattle we are not able to do this? People need to get to work, go home from work after they worked the night shift. We really need to change the transit’s powers views on “Public Transportation”
I agree that the light rail needs to be run until about 2am or later. I do not think that it would be cost effective to run it that late currently. Maybe they need to do a once an hour light rail ride at the late night hours. Until the light rail is out in the U-Dist it’s not going to be cost effective for making the late night runs currently.
I do think that light rail was a good solution to some transportation problems. I do think that they need to build it faster. We are building one line at a time making it a 30 year project. We needed a better transportation system back in the 80’s & 90’s. I think that they should speed up the process and start building from Northgate, south to the U-Dist. We need to build light rail on 520 & I-90 both can serve the east side well, and loop it down to Renton and Southcenter and connect it to the airport.

I'm an airline , and I agree... the lack of availability , of public transportation, after midnight , is embarassing.. I live downtown, 6th and Marion, and I work at Sea-tac from 2:30pm to 1:00am.. We don"t get the "same services" as other passengers and commuters grt, from 6am to 11pm.. That is simply "not fair",... they can work on the tunnel , while it is opened , that's absolute "rubbish:.. I"m very stressed out, trying to get home every night.. thks maxx

I am amazed with the public lack of transportation in Seattle for how big it is. I commute from downtown to the airport and back 5 days a week by bike and bus for a night shift. So when the link was proposed I was all for it. However, I wasn't aware that the plan was to stop running the LINK at midnight. I wrote to suggest that sound transit reconsider their plan. Not only for myself but for all the red eye flier that would like to take the LINK from the airport to downtown. Rather then having to take two separate buses to get from the airport to down town. Not to mention how good it would be for downtown Seattle bar goers to have the option to hope on the LINK to get home to all the LINK station now and in the near future. It makes the city more friendly to tourist , commuters and bar goers alike. You got my vote.
Their reply in short:
"Currently, Central Link light rail service operates 20 hours 6 days a week and 18 hours on Sunday's. In order to support a 20 hour train service our maintenance crews need at a minimum 4 hours to do their track work, station repairs, station cleaning, switch maintenance."
Portland can run M.A.X. all night why can't we???

Not just late night, how hard is it for Metro to figure out that they might need a few extra buses out of Fremont after the 4th of July fireworks or before the Solstice Parade? They run those events on holiday schedule and wonder why people still drive their cars.
